Personal Device Donations

Computer donations help our resources go further so that we can bring technology access to more people in the communities we serve! We take your devices, give them new life and distribute them at no cost to families and individuals that do not have a device in their home! Help us equip, connect and inspire the next generation by recycling!


We accept donation drop-offs from 9AM-2PM without any appointment necessary at all of our physical locations. All donors will be provided with a donation receipt upon request.


We provide free pickup of donations over 25 devices within a 50 mile radius of our physical locations and gladly accept device donations shipped to one of our physical locations via post or freight. We will work with larger donors to provide on-premises device sanitization and logistics services nationwide.

Micro Center Donation Locations

If you are not close to one of our locations we have partnered with Micro Center, a leading technology retailer, to accept donations at all 28 of their stores for only laptops and desktops in working condition. Micro Center will accept donations from Monday - Saturday 10 AM - 9 PM and Sunday 11 AM - 6 PM and to find a Micro Center close to you and schedule a donation please visit the Micro Center donation site.

How It Works

  1. Drop off your device(s).

  2. Compudopt technical staff wipe all data bearing devices in accordance with the NIST 800-88 PURGE standard 

  3. Devices are cleaned, refurbished, and loaded with a Linux-based operating system called Ubuntu or Windows 10 depending on the needs of the community members.

  4. Devices are then distributed to families without their own computer at home at our drive-thru operations. All computers are completely free to the families who receive them and include 2-years of free technical support. 

  5. Corporations, organizations, or individuals donate computers and receive a tax receipt.

Benefits of Donating

 

Tax Deductions - All donations are tax-deductible. Note: the IRS code prohibits non-profit organizations from determining a fair market value for goods donated in-kind.

*Compudopt takes your data security seriously. We wipe all computers in accordance with the NIST 800-88 PURGE standard. Certificates of Erasure available on request.
