At Compudopt, we are committed to maintaining the highest standards of security and data
privacy throughout the donation process. Rest assured that your donated electronics and the
data they contain are handled with the utmost care and are subject to rigorous protocols to
ensure their complete destruction.
Secure Transportation: All data bearing devices are collected by Compudopt staff at the donors
facility or at one of our physical locations. Once collected, all electronics are scanned, counted,
and recorded on the donation receipt.
Controlled Storage: Upon arrival at our warehouse, the devices are securely stored to maintain
their integrity and protect against unauthorized access. We implement strict access controls
and surveillance measures to safeguard the equipment and any remaining data.
Comprehensive Data Sanitization and NIST 800-88 Compliance: Compudopt utilizes Blancco
Disk Erasure, a certified enterprise grade data sanitization tool, to securely erase all donated
devices. Our data sanitization process follows the NIST 800-88 standard, implementing a two-
pass wipe and 10% verification, ensuring that all sensitive information is permanently and
irreversibly destroyed.
Physical Destruction of Legacy/Failing Assets: In such cases, where data sanitization cannot be
achieved through software, we employ physical destruction methods. Storage devices that
cannot be effectively sanitized are transferred to our R2 partner securely for physical shredding
to ensure the permanent destruction of all remaining data.
Environmentally Sound Recycling: We prioritize environmental sustainability in our practices.
Any shredded or unused devices are responsibly recycled in an environmentally sound manner,
minimizing our impact on the environment, through one of our R2 certified recycling partners.
