CDW Pro Program version 2

Digital Divide Pilot Program

Compudopt and CDW are pairing up to bridge the digital divide together in a new pilot program for the Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana and Arkansas markets. Any clients of CDW that are either refreshing their old technology or have accumulated a surplus of it, can now donate it to Compudopt for computer reuse and recycling.

Corporate Computer/Device Donations

  • Compudopt is specifically looking for the following: enterprise-grade laptops, desktops, monitors, all-in-ones, mice, keyboards, cords, power adapters, etc.

  • Wherever we can, Compudopt will refurbish and reuse that technology and put it directly into the hands of communities that have been left on the wrong side of the digital divide.

  • Computers that cannot be refurbished/reused will instead be responsibly recycled with approved, certified R2/e-Steward e-waste recyclers.

  • We take data erasure and security seriously at Compudopt. All data-bearing devices go through a commercial data erasure process in accordance with the NIST 800-88 PURGE standard, a multi-wipe pass that ensures that all data is destroyed. Defective and legacy drives that cannot be wiped are securely transferred to an R2 certified partner for physical destruction.

How It Works

  1. Compudopt staff will arrange pick up of your donation from your site or receive it at our warehouse.*

  2. Compudopt technical staff wipe computers up to a Department of Defense standard using a program called Kill Disk and issue Certificates of Erasure as requested by the donor.

  3. Computers are cleaned, refurbished, and loaded with a Linux-based operating system called Ubuntu or Windows 10 depending on the needs of the community members.

  4. Computers are then distributed to families without their own computer at home at our drive-thru operations. All computers are
completely free to the families who receive them and include 2-years of free technical support.

  5. Corporations, organizations, or individuals donate computers and receive a tax receipt.

*If shipped, we will use a secure shipping company.

Benefits of Donating

Tax Deductions - All donations are tax-deductible. Note: the IRS code prohibits non-profit organizations from determining a fair market value for goods donated in-kind.

Volunteerism and Team Building Partners can help us distribute the computers.

Great CSR and PR Your donation is helping to close the digital divide and positively supports key focus areas including education, sustainability, and workforce skill development. Photos from our events are a great way to highlight your community support.

Environmental Impact – Reduce your carbon footprint by giving these tools a second life in the hands of children who need them.
