| Computer Donations |
The donation of your computer will:
- Provide computer access to a child at home
- Encourage the development of a child’s technology skills
- Foster computer reuse and better stewardship for the environment
- Provide a tax deduction to you, along with a personal thank you note from an appreciative child
Comp-U-Dopt will gladly accept lightly used and clean computers that meet the following minimum requirements:
Computers:
- 1 Ghz or faster processor
- 20 GB hard drive
- 256 MB of RAM
- Optical Drive
- Ethernet interface
Monitors:
- 17” or 19” SVGA CRT monitors
- 15” or larger LCD monitors
|
Although
it is not mandatory, we would request that you consider making a
donation on the order of $5 per monitor / CPU (or, for a large number
of CPU's / monitors, the equivalent of the recycling fee for these
items). We note that this is less than the recycling fee charged by
many recycling centers. As a 501 (c)(3) organization this
donation may be tax deductible and will assist us with the operational
costs of our programs.
Wiping the hard drives, loading new software, matching CPU, Monitor,
Keyboard & Mouse and cleaning the computers takes time. Gently used
computers that match the Comp-U-Dopt specification use less volunteer
time to prepare; this means more computers are available to give to
children. |
